Library Databases - Search by Publication

The library databases are such a robust resource for research. More often than not, those resources are articles, whether full text or not. However, there are times a researcher knows the publication but does not know the article. The library also provides a way to search the databases by publication.

NOTE: These instructions use an example article from the publication "Psychology Today"; this example is not relevant to all searches.

Purpose: Present the steps for looking up publications in the library databases, without searching for articles.

Login to myUVU.

Navigate to the Fulton Library website.

Scroll down the Fulton Library home page and locate the Library Search section.

Click on the Publications link.

This will begin the search by publication.

Type the name of the publication into the search field.

This example uses "Psychology Today" for the search.

Without even typing the full word, the search engine offers suggestions.

Click the appropriate result.

Example

A results page opens. The results displayed are all the databases, to which the Fulton Library subscribes, that have the example "Psychology Today" in the collection.

The entries identify the range of dates included in that database's collection.

Click on the first link for the Database called ABI/INFORM Collection. That database has several decades of the example publication.
Example

The database's webpage for the publication will open.

Scroll down the page to find Choose an issue to view.

Select the appropriate year and issues/volumes for the publication. This example uses 2025 and Nov/Dec 2025; Vol. 58(6).

Click Show issue contents for the webpage to show the articles for the desired issue of the publication.

Example

The list of results will be the articles for that selected issue.

Scroll to review the articles in the specific issue of the publication. In the example, the Marilynn Wei article is the article required.

The three highlighted options are Details, Full text [HTML], and Full text PDF.
